Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze mechanical drawings and specifications for piping systems (HVAC, refrigeration, process, chilled water, steam, etc.).
  • Prepare detailed material and labor cost estimates.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with operations during project handoffs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of materials, codes and labor costs.
  • Support value engineering efforts and recommend cost-saving alternatives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience estimating mechanical piping projects (healthcare, commercial and industrial).
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and piping systems.
  • Plumbing estimating experience is a plus .
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g. Quick Pen, Trimble, Bluebeam).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Strong math, analytical, customer service and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
  • Background in mechanical contracting or engineering.
  • Familiarity with local and national building codes.
  • Experience in design-build environments.
