JOB TITLE: Senior Architectural Design CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

JOB FUNCTION:

Responsible for producing high quality project design deliverables in construction documents. Advocates for the company’s vision, style, aesthetic and standards in residential design and collaborates with the design team to produce designs that are ahead of the curb. Works on and leads any/all phases of development including Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration. Assists in city submittal and facilitates reviewer comments and manages consultants’ deliverables.

Reports to Design Principals on tasks and deliverables and work directly with him/her to ensure the facilitation of a project’s completion on-time, on/underbudget, and meeting the Company’s quality standards. This position acts as coach for the team.

• Develop vignettesand hand sketchesof architectural ideas that work in the space and meet intended design goals; articulate why concepts work to the team using sound, logical reasoning.
• Assist projectteams to ensuredelays are adequately documented and mitigated.
• Design holistically, not just segmentally, so that spaces flow consistently, areas tie together for maximum impact, and secondary focal points are established and used to build upon the underlying look and attitude.
• Develops and monitors projectparameters and ensuresall work meets company standards and displays thorough completeness.
• Ability to manage project timelines and schedules including all consultants and third parties
• Facilitates client communication and meetings.
• Oversees completion of required architectural drawing and design details and documentation, specification writing, and RFIs.
• Coordinates with team and other appropriate staff to ensureCAD drawings are accurate and meet architectural specifications.
• Maintains regular communication with field coordinators and construction managers to ensure quality control and adherence to project schedules.
• Ensure qualityand efficiency for assigned tasks and deliverables; maintain billable efficiency rate of 80%.
• Follows throughon personal and team goals to ensure commitments are met.
• Coordinates with vendors.

• Initiates new vendor relationships.
• Ensures vendor partnerships are beneficial to the company in conjunction with purchasing and logistics and product details.
• Leads new product exposureand oversees productdue diligence and research.
• Regularly reportson status of projects.
• Regularly coaches and offers expertise to others in the team.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Five to ten yearsof related experience.
• Practical construction knowledge.
• Ability to read blueprints and plans.
• Collaborate on and design custom and spec homes while complying with project budget, scope, and goals.
• Manage client requests and maintain prompt communication during Architectural Design phases.
• Strongly focus on kitchen, bathroom, key living spaces, custom installations, and architectural designs and details.
• All finishes in residential construction, wall claddings, paint colors, hardwood floors, kitchen design and layout, bathroom design and layout, wine rooms, custom built-ins.
• 3D Modelingin ArchiCAD.
• Heavy involvement, coordination, and understanding of construction, project management, vendor relationships, bidding and estimating.
• Due-Diligence and research in material, system, or product specifications. (i.e., tile, plumbing, etc.).
• Review all work for completeness, accuracy, and adhere to schedule.
• Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates and teammates.

• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analyticalskills.
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

• Proficient on Revit, Blue Beam, Drop Box, Builder Trend, ArchiCAD, Adobe Suite.
• Proven abilityto handle multipleprojects and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Good judgementwith the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis frequently requiredto do the following:

• Calculate figuresand amounts.
• Coordinate multipletasks simultaneously.
• Accurately completedetailed forms and reports.
• Interpret codes, architectural drawings,manufacturer installation manuals.
• Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
