Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Test Technician to perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance inspections on equipment manufactured at our Coordinated Designs & Controls location in Houston, Texas. This role involves working with energized circuits and voltages ranging from 1 kV up to 35 kV in a typical manufacturing environment. Strong adherence to safety protocols and the ability to interpret technical documentation are essential.

Position Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibility is to conduct electrical and mechanical testing, troubleshoot components, and verify the quality and functionality of manufactured products. You will collaborate with engineering and design personnel to identify and resolve issues and assist in developing testing and calibration procedures. This role requires flexibility to support special projects while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend and follow shop procedures, prints, diagrams, and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Use hand tools, air tools, and test equipment to manipulate and inspect electrical and mechanical components.
  • Determine and execute appropriate methods for testing a variety of components and circuits.
  • Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and quality inspections of simple to complex components to verify proper function or identify faults.
  • Interpret engineering and customer specifications along with quality inspection requirements.
  • Assess workmanship quality and operational function of electrical circuits, including PLC troubleshooting.
  • Assist with special work assignments and participate in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen and Area Focus Teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to resolve issues and update documentation for future reference.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment using manual tools and cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain regular attendance, work efficiently, and support continuous manufacturing through overtime as needed.
  • Foster positive working relationships with co-workers and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop and perform calibration and testing procedures.
  • Assist with research and development projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical or vocational degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Basic understanding of PLC operation and troubleshooting.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to safely work with voltages from 1 kV to 35 kV.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with electrical testing.
  • Familiarity with safety and quality standards in electrical testing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with dust and noise.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate components and tools as required.
