We’re looking for an experienced Optical Technician to join our team in Seminole!

This is a full-time position - Monday through Friday (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) - NO WEEKENDS!

We are a team of over 130 optometrists, ophthalmologists, surgeons, opticians, and eye care professionals serving more than 100,000 patients across 15 different locations in the Greater Tampa Bay and SW Florida area. From routine eye exams and optical retail, to medical optometry, ophthalmology, and surgical procedures, our patients experience end-to-end personalized care and service.

Compensation commensurate with experience - will pay a higher base rate for COA certification. Current COA certification must be presented.

Hiring Bonus is paid over 10 pay periods. To retain bonus candidate must remain employed for 6 months.

The Optical Technician is responsible for collecting and recording ocular and systemic patient histories, visual acuities, BP, IOP, Auto refractions, Manifest Refractions, performing external examinations, and dry-eye testing, as well as disease specific extra testing.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Collecting and recording patient medical history
• Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations.
• Performing visual acuity testing, auto and Manifest Refractions (measurements for the glasses prescription), tonometry (measuring eye pressure)
• Measuring pupil size and reactivity
• Performing confrontational visual field testing, pachymetry (Corneal thickness measurement)
• Performing dry eye testing
• Participating in light cleaning of the facility
• Maintaining a sanitized environment
• Performing corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurements, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasonography
• Assisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal of contacts.
• Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures including consenting patients

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year assisting in an Optical practice or as an Optometrist Assistant
• Ophthalmic experience a plus
